Presentation Night 2008 Review

4 October 2008

Around 80 members and guests packed the Scotch Boykett Room on Saturday night to take part in the Annual Presentation & Awards Ceremony, considered the night of nights for the OSSC calendar.  It was a chance for the players, coaches, partners and members to share a drink, a story and a laugh as they recapped the events of Season 2008.

Feedback thus far has proven it was once again a top night of entertainment with great food and good company.  Aside from the excellent food, the 'main course' was the season Best & Fairest voting countdown for all 4 teams, with other highlights being the club raffle, auction, President's, Coach's and Captain's speeches, all well orchestrated by our sensational MC Daniel Giesen-White.

Awards handed out were as follows:

Seniors - Chris Jewitt

Reserves - Alex Petrakos

Thirds - Will Benson

Fourths - Bruce Reid

Golden Boot

A special thank you to Dan for being MC for the night, to Al & Jules for their efforts with decorations, Jim Keep for playing auctioneer, to the ladies for coming along and looking fabulous (we know it is a bore for you at times), all those who donated some excellent items for the raffle and auction, Kate Paterson in the Scotch events office, Pete Court for his help with editing and printing of the Review Book and to each and every one of the fabulous OSSC Committee who worked tirelessly over the last couple of months to put this night on.

Pre-Season Training for 2009

Believe it or not it has actually been discussed.  Likely to be early to mid January, keep your eye on the website over the coming months to find out more on the definite date.

Pre-Season Old Boys Cup

Although the finer details are yet to be confirmed, be certain that it will be on again, only this time it is expected to be earlier with the intended date to be mid-February 2009.

Thank you everyone for your efforts in 2008.  Seaosn 07 was a tough act to follow with expectation bursting out the seems.  Let's make 2009 a memorable one with the right attitude from the start.  Be sure to have your say at club events such as the AGM where the shaping of this club is in it's members hands.  A club like OSSC you will never find elsewhere, and for each and every member to have the opportunity to play a part in it (no matter how big or small) is exactly the sort of club we aim to provide - one for the members.

Remember to keep an eye on updates for the website.

See you all in 2009.
