Match Report - Reds 2009
REDS v Nunawading City
Round 10 - 12/07/2009
REDS FAIL TO MAKE IT 4 WINS IN A ROW

It was a week where the Reds felt confident of redeeming themselves against a Nunawading side that beat us five zip at the beginning of the year. Fast forward half a season and with three consecutive wins under their belt, Scotch felt they could be offer a bit more this time up. Especially as we were boosted by the additional skill, grit and youthful vigour of P.C and Wes. The only downside was that we had lost our regular keeper due to some sort of McDonald's incident the night before...perhaps he had been Hamburgled?

The opening few minutes were scrappy and Scotch barely touched the ball. However, we began to find our passing game and started creating chances of our own. Despite being over run in the mid field, when we did regain the ball we had space to push it wide. The best moment of the game came during a twenty minute spell of Scotch dominating, when Wes pickup the "pill" 20 yards out and let rip. It seemed destined for the top corner until the opposing keeper leapt of his spring board and tipped it wide. We needed to score during this period of superiority but failed to put the ball in the back of the net.

Our lack of clincalism proved to be our downfall. A goal from a set piece (the Red's own kryptonite during match play) was a cruel twist. A second followed before half time. Changes were made and Jeremy was brought inside to match up three on three in the middle of the park. It's easy to look back with hindsight now but I don't believe we should change formation to match others. We are good enough on our day to play our own game with the additional space on the wings. Despite Tiddy's half time pleas of more aggression and headers won the half was lack lustre and smacked of a team already beaten. The only player still on the field who looked like he was still up for it was Jarrod on the right. Four nil was the end score in a disappointing game. Next week is away the league leaders.....which Red's team will turn up?

Final score 0-4
