CHAMPIONS FOR SENIORS & RESERVES! 2007 was another fantastic year for the Old Scotch Soccer Club. We are only three years into our redevelopment and the successes just keep coming. The committee and I had high hopes that we would achieve the promotion we just missed in '06, but to have achieved 'the double' with Reserves and Seniors winning their Championship is just incredible. Certainly it has been one of the most memorable sporting achievements any of us have been involved with. Although we have had challenges with the grounds and facilities we still progressed as a club. The creation of the Thirds side was a tremendous success and added strength to the Reserves, and ultimately, Seniors playing group. I would personally like to congratulate and thank everyone involved with Old Scotch Soccer Club in 07 and I hope to see you all continue the journey into Provi 1 in 08.

What a fantastic year for the club with both the Seniors and Reserves winning their leagues. After losing 4 to 5 quality players to interstate, overseas and other clubs in the pre-season I was fearful that we would not have the depth to challenge for promotion let alone win the league. I am pleased to admit that these fears were unwarranted. We did not have as many injuries as last year but it was great to see a number of younger fringe players step up to the Senior team and perform admirably. We were also fortunate to pick up a couple of talented recruits who managed to combine with our existing squad and have a very consistent and successful season. Coaching is always enjoyable when you are winning. I have had a most enjoyable year and I would like to congratulate all players for their efforts and deserved success. I would also like to thank the committee and volunteers and our small band of loyal supporters. We couldn't have done it without you all. Let's enjoy our achievements and work hard for further success in 2008.
Eamonn Beamish - Seniors Coach

From humble beginnings come great things… Who could ever have imagined that two disastrous 5-0 collapses, followed by a face saving 3-2 loss, would begin a run of 16 unbeaten matches, which would virtually guarantee Scotch Ressies a table topping season.
My congratulations and gratitude go not only to the core group of players who made this such a successful season but also to those who contributed cameo appearances at some stage throughout the season. From Seniors who added muscle, skill and leadership to those fringe players who proved they could perform on the Saturday stage.
A special thanks to Eamonn, whose continual support made some difficult decisions seem extremely simple. To Wardy, who continues to be a great listener and mate. To Stevie, whose assistance made a success of our initial Thirds season.
Thanks also to the committee, supporters, friends and partners who make Old Scotch such a wonderful club to be a part of.
Philip Grant - Reservers Player/Coach

The Thirds formed like a shot out of the blue, and all of sudden it was 2 weeks before the start of season, so was a marvellous effort by the committee to make it happen. A newly formed team was assembled with not much preparation or any real pre-season but we had just enough time to have one warm up match against Old Boy Rival Melburnians, and before we knew it the season began. A good start with a win against last year's premiers Waverley Wanderers and we thought we would be on the way to adding to the trophy cabinet, but it was all down hill from then on. A very leaky defence, having no real goal keeper and being generally unfit made it difficult in the beginning and we went on a long losing trip. During the season we show at times we could match it with any of the competition, and gradually improved. Our defence became much stronger across the middle, consistency in our goal keeping, but unfortunately could not maintain the discipline required to get the results over 90 mins. Scoring was also a problem as we went in search for the regular goal poacher. Even though we finished at wrong end of table, the team did improve and provided good signs for the coming season, putting us in good stead hopefully to allow us to finish higher. We also provided immeasurable depth for the Ressies that helped them to win their league and allowed for a path way for next year. The team spirit was excellent and made it very easy to coach and manage.
