An up and down year for Old Scotch in 1996. Our seniors got off to a great start under new coach Rob Mantel. The pre-season tummy crunches standing us in good stead with 4 wins and a draw in our first 5 games, sitting atop of the table with 13 goals. Somewhere the rest of the league caught up and a miserly run of 12 games without a win put the Seniors in the danger zone for the first time in many years at Old Scotch. During the end of this run, Rob Mantel was poached by a Brazilian League team and up stepped Pascal Hickey to player / manage the Seniors (and with all his other club efforts take off the club man of the year award). A fine run of 4 wins including 7 against Heidelberg ensued and safety prevailed.
The Reserves were equally lodged in the mid-table scrap for most of the year finishing a respectable, although once again slightly dissapointing 10th.
